Pavli Serenetsky (fka “Brielle Brilliant” on IMDB) is a filmmaker known for their bold artistry, environmentalist approaches, and dark comedy. Their feature film, Firstness, received national distribution with Gravitas Ventures and won numerous awards including The Grand Jury Prize (Outfest) and Best Narrative Screenplay. Their second feature film, More Beautiful Perversions, will be released this year.
Pavli’s shorts and music videos have been exhibited in world renowned festivals and galleries and have reached more than a million views on Youtube.
After receiving their MFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, showcasing experimental films and publishing cult-beloved books such as The Spud (Featherproof Books), Ela Thier’s mentorship was a turning point in their career in narrative film, that led to them to create their calling-card short film, Streakers.
Pavli works professionally in many filmmaking aspects: screenwriting-for-hire for indie & commercial projects, directing and producing documentaries and fiction, 16mm cinematography, casting, production design, and locations.

They’re currently writing The Plaza for Conde Nast and recently did a rewrite on an upcoming Netflix feature.
Mathilde writes, directs, and produces short content, including Cleo from 8:20 to 2:35, Peta Pan, Escape from Garden Grove, Almost Anonymous, and non-fiction animations for the Pulitzer Center and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.
An award-winning playwright, her plays include Dirty Laundry (WP Theatre, Audible, Henley Rose and Kernodle Awards), Milk & Gall (Theatre503, published by Nick Hern Books), A Play about David Mamet Writing a Play about Harvey Weinstein, and Esther Perel Ruined My Life. She began her filmmaking journey studying with Ela Thier and is thrilled to be back at the Independent Film School. She is repped by CAA and Writ Large.
I’ve written, directed, and produced several award-winning features and many shorts. Currently I’m in post production on 109 Billion Followers, a feature film with Oscar winning actor J.K. Simmons. I’ve also done writer-for-hire gigs on feature films. You can view my filmography on IMDB.
As importantly to me, I’ve guided hundreds of screenwriters and filmmakers since 2006, and proven time and again that to thrive, what artists need are skills, community, encouragement, and guidance from someone who believes in them and holds out high expectations.
It’s been a highlight of my life to have launched careers of fellow artists, who I’ve enjoyed supporting, and who supported me in return – often tenfold.
